East Coast Warehouse & Distribution Receives 2017 Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award

ELIZABETH, NJ – December 8, 2017 – East Coast Warehouse & Distribution, a leading temperature-controlled logistics provider located on the Port of New York/New Jersey and in Philadelphia, today announced it has received the Green Supply Chain Award for 2017 from Supply & Demand Chain Executive for the second time. The company has been recognized for its continued sustainability initiatives, which have resulted in the production of more than 650,000 kWHr of clean, renewable energy; a reduction in more than 3.15 million pounds of carbon dioxide, more than 25,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide and 11,000 pounds of nitrogen from the atmosphere; and the recycling of more than 2 million pounds of cardboard and 250,000 pounds of plastic stretch wrap, among other things.

The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.

“Sustainability is an important component in how we run our business, and we’re proud to call home one of the largest solar powered warehouses in the Northeast,” said East Coast Warehouse CEO Jamie Overley. “Because we have achieved consistent success from a sustainability standpoint, we are working to expand our efforts with more solar panels and continued progress towards a paperless environment as we head into 2018.”

This year’s 10th-annual awards recognize small, mid-size and large enterprises that leveraged green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain.

“Honorees for this year’s award demonstrate that corporate social responsibility is a business imperative that transcends the company and extends throughout the supply chain, involving suppliers and customers,” said Supply & Demand Chain Executive Editor John R. Yuva. “We congratulate this year’s honorees for their commitment to sustainability and recognize their tremendous achievements.”
